The Down and Out fire escape ladder was five years in the making from the conception of the design and patenting of the first standard 14 ft fire escape for the home, in 1996. Unfortunately it was born from a tragedy played out by some one close, in which a 3 year old lost its life. All because no one could find a ladder to get to the first floor. The father blamed himself.
