The directory is an alternative to the webring (which is how this all started), and hopefully will provide a good starting point for anyone wanting to find out more about anyone with a Scottish Blog.
A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger". Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently. I lay no claim that this site is original or a first of it`s kind. The only reason I created it was, after a few email discussions with fellow Scots, there didn`t seem to be one central place to locate fellow bloggers of Scottish descent or location.
There are two sources of inspiration for this one, the main one being sites like Chicago Bloggers and London Bloggers, the second was that, simply, some people can`t add webring code to their site (or don`t want to) but DO want to be listed somewhere. So the directory is an alternative to the webring (which is how this all started), and hopefully will provide a good starting point for anyone wanting to find out more about anyone with a Scottish Blog. A little background for you. I was a member of the Blogging Brits Webring, and I`ve enjoyed reading some of the sites from around the UK. I slowly built a list of Scottish Blogs, but could never find one central point that listed them all (or any for that matter). So, inspired by Lynn at Blogging Brits, and after an email or two from a couple of fellow Scottish bloggers, I setup up the Scottish Blogs webring. This site was built, by hand in HomeSite.
Quick UpdateI`m currently re-assessing things with this site, it`s not going away and yes I`ll still be organising blogmeets but I have a lot on at the moment so I`ve only really got time for `maintenance`. Come 2006 I hope to move things forward again.
Glasgow Blogmeet RecapI can happily say that it was a great afternoon in the company of some lovely, intelligent and funny individuals. The fact that we were sharing part of the pub with a random assortment of fiddlers, a mandolin player and a couple of singers.
This Tickled MeGood old Balzac. Where would we be without him? I love `The Girl With The Golden Eyes`. As a romantic adolescent, I always dreamt life would be that interesting. It hasn`t been, but if I didn`t live in hope, I wouldn`t bother living at all.
A Love SupremeThere is something that makes being a bohemian hard in this day and age. A force against the sublime and the honest. Everything has only surface, or it has no surface or substance at all. Everything is ethereal and disposable.
Scottish GardenA celebration of the scottish garden. A place to remember, during the cold dark months of winter, just how beautiful it is... And i hope, to provide inspiration during the summer months.
Muhammad AliI’m not going miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. To take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars.
