Political science departments and, in fact, the liberal arts more generally, are facing two related challenges serious enough to be called crises: declining enrollments in our courses, and more students coming to colleges and universities deficient in the kinds of skills - reading comprehension, analytical abilities, effective writing -- that help them do well in our classes.
APSA is guided in its activities by a Constitution and By-laws and governed by a 26-person Council. stimulating students` interest in political science, particularly by moving beyond the traditional lecture method used in so many introductory classes.
