Sauder Woodworking, the world's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble furniture, has provided well-crafted and moderately priced home & office furnishings for more than seven decades. This commitment to quality, design, and personalized customer service has helped make us the sixth largest furniture manufacturer in the United States and one of the most recognized names in the industry. You can find our furniture at retailers everywhere.
The Sauders had some success building custom cabinets and church pews. A local church commissioned Erie to produce a set of pews in solid oak, marking the start of Sauder Manufacturing Company. But it was the small tables that Erie made from his wood scraps that would ultimately change the course of his life. Then in 1951, another event would shape the company's destiny. A retailer asked Erie to design a piece of furniture that could be shipped and stored in flat boxes. His solution was a snap-together table packaged in a box with its own handle that not only met the customer's request, but also marked the beginning of the ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture industry.
Today, the company is headed by second- and third-generation members of the Sauder family. Maynard Sauder is Chairman of the Board of the company his father started in a barn 70 years ago. His son, Kevin Sauder, serves as the company’s President/CEO. Still headquartered in Archbold, Ohio, Sauder ships over $500 million of RTA furniture annually and does business in more than 70 countries worldwide.
